Just like the Algebra interaction type, Math Entry is used to evaluate mathematical expressions. The difference with Algebra is that you define the evaluation criteria for the student’s input directly, whereas the Algebra interaction derives these from the task.

#### When to use Math Entry

Use Math Entry if the Algebra interaction offers no task that is suitable for you. You can also use it when you want to have more control over how the evaluation is done.

Math Entry cannot generate hints or worked solutions. This is a disadvantage for exercises in learning content. For assessments this is less important.
