GenBasicFraction

GenBasicFraction

GenBasicFraction[ n ] generates a list of n random basic fractions, with 1 as numerator.

Usages

GenBasicFraction[ n ]

GenBasicFraction[ n ] returns a list of n fractions 1/d. The denominator d is a not-too-difficult integer: usually (80% of the time) from 2 to 9, and otherwise one of 10, 15, 20, 25 or a multiple of ten from 30 to 100. In a script, wrap the command in Simplify. Each time the exercise is generated, new fractions are chosen, so the outputs below are only examples.

Example in out
Three basic fractions. Simplify[ GenBasicFraction[3] ] for example {1/3, 1/5, 1/15}
With n = 1, the result is still a list. Simplify[ GenBasicFraction[1] ] for example {1/50}
Details
  • Without Simplify, the command is not calculated.
  • Duplicates: the same fraction can occur more than once in the list.
  • n must be a positive integer.
