PolarVector

PolarVector

PolarVector[ r, angle ] represents a vector in polar form, given by its magnitude and direction.

Usages

PolarVector[ r, angle ]

PolarVector[ r, angle ] represents the vector with magnitude (length) r and direction angle. The angle is in radians, unless it is given as a quantity in degrees.

Example in rendered
Magnitude 2, angle ¼π radians. PolarVector[ 2, 1/4 Pi ] (2,14π)\left(2, \frac{1}{4}\pi\right)
Magnitude 3, angle 85 degrees. PolarVector[ 3, Quantity[85, 'deg'] ] (3,85∘)\left(3, 85^{\circ}\right)
Details
  • PolarVector only represents the vector; in a script, it is not changed.
  • Use ComponentForm to convert a polar vector to components: Simplify[ ComponentForm[ PolarVector[2, 1/4 Pi] ] ] is displayed as (22)\begin{pmatrix}\sqrt{2}\\\sqrt{2}\end{pmatrix}. Use PolarForm for the opposite conversion.
